Premium juice producer Sunmagic has launched its first-ever range of functional smoothies into the on-trade as it taps further into the growing consumer trend for healthy soft drinks.

Each smoothie in the three-strong range combines one whole portion of vegetables and one whole portion of fruit. They contain less sugar than traditional smoothies due to their vegetable content.

The range comprises “Antioxidant” Smoothie, with apple, red beet and carrot, “Immunity” Smoothie with carrot, mango and ginger, and “Energise” Smoothie with apple, kale and kelp.

The Antioxidant variant contains vitamins A, C and E, Immunity contains echinacea and vitamin C, and Energise contains magnesium, vitamin C and vitamins B complex.

The functional smoothies come in semi-transparent 330ml PET bottles and have a recommended price in retail of £2.39 each. They contain 100% vegetable and fruit juice and will keep for four months in the fridge.

They are available from now to all channels of the trade including bars, pubs and restaurants. The packaging has been designed by Bath-based design agency Osborne Pike.

Razin Ali, Sunmagic’s brand manager, said: “Consumers are increasingly on the look-out for premium soft drinks which deliver on taste but which also contain added health benefits, such as lower sugar and added vitamins and minerals.

“Within this, we have also witnessed the start of a new trend for smoothies which blend both vegetables and fruit.

“The new Sunmagic Smoothie range provides many functional benefits with its ‘Antioxidant’, ‘Immunity’ and ‘Energise’ variants, and also provides consumers with one portion of veg and one portion of fruit in each bottle.

“The premium contemporary packaging will also appeal to our increasingly discerning target audience.”
