Symposium develops Merchant’s Choice range for bartenders

Merchant's Choice spirits

UK distributor Symposium Independent Spirits Merchant has launched Merchant’s Choice, a new range of “alternative” craft spirits for bartenders.

Designed to provide an alternative for bars that would rather not use mainstream brands, the three-strong range consists of a Guyanese White Rum, a Classic Vodka distilled from British wheat and a bright London Dry Gin.

The spirits feature “distinctive yet simple speed rail-friendly packaging” and are available at a “competitive price point”.

Range extensions are currently being developed and will launch later this year based on feedback already received from the bartending community.

Adrian Calderbank, bar manager at Upstairs at the Department Store in Brixton, London, said: “Here at Upstairs at the Department Store, we believe the entire range is a perfect fit for our members and ourselves as bartenders.

“The Guyanese rum offers palatability and depth unrivalled in a white rum at this price point. It lends itself brilliantly to the Mojito with its background chocolate notes.

“The London Dry Gin represents everything that makes the London Dry style great. Juniper led with balanced citrus peel and spice coming through on the finish, it has become our gin of choice for a classic G&T.

“Finally, the vodka gives an incredible mouthfeel. The creamy texture even comes through at room temperature and lends itself perfectly to a Martini serve.

“All in all, this is a fantastic range of spirits and we are very happy to have them here at our members club.”
