It also goes 'On Tour' once a year and after visiting Buenos Aires, Vancouver and Mexico City, it is heading to Europe for the first time in April 2017. The four-day extravaganza will see leading bartenders from all over the world head to Scotland's capital for a series of events designed to educate, illuminate and entertain bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts from the city and beyond.

The organisers of the Tales of the Cocktail festival in New Orleans have confirmed that the bar industry event is returning to Scotland in April.

After a highly successful debut in Edinburgh in 2017, Tales of the Cocktail on Tour will be back in the city from Saturday April 7 to Wednesday April 11, 2018.

The announcement follows reports that Tales of the Cocktail is set to be sold by founders Ann and Paul Tuennerman to the Solomon family, which owns theatres in New Orleans and the surrounding area, in partnership with Neal Bodenheimer, co-owner of New Orleans cocktail bar Cure.

With five days of seminars and other events, Tales on Tour in Edinburgh is designed to educate, illuminate and entertain bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts, building on the profile of Tales of the Cocktail held in New Orleans every July.

The organisers have also announced that the Tales of The Cocktail Cocktail Apprentice Programme is running again, giving ambitious young bartenders an exclusive mentorship with some of the biggest names in the business during the week. Applications are open until Tuesday January 16, 2018. Visit https://talesofthecocktail.com/participate/cocktail-apprentice-program/ for details.
