THE ADAPTED COVID-19 PUB / RESTAURANT


The Government has given the hospitality sector the green light to reopen provided social distancing rules are followed, but is that really possible? We say yes and have created a Covid-19 Compliant Pub or Restaurant layout to show you how.

So what’s required?

Firstly, as well as donning facemasks and gloves, your staff may need to take on new responsibilities. A ‘Pub Host’ should greet customers upon arrival, show them to their tables and manage queues, and a ‘Pub Safe Monitor’ should maintain levels of hygiene to keep customers safe.

To minimise congestion at the bar, encourage customers to order food and drink via an app, such as Hungrrr, on their mobile phones.

In order to manage social distancing, existing restaurant furniture, Café tables and dining chairs should be reduced, reconfigured and spaced out. Consider purchasing outdoor furniture to help with increasing table numbers in the sunshine or a parasol in case it rains.

Also prepare to introduce protective screens to your premises. It is possible to acquire ‘warm’ and ‘friendly’ ones, with rustic wood or leather panels ideal for the hospitality industry. Some also allow for wrapped cutlery, condiments, or single use menus to be passed through if necessary and are lightweight so they can be moved around easily.

Those restaurants and pubs which can adapt to the new environment quickly and easily should be able to recreate the ‘pub and dining experience’ without too much compromise.
