The Living Ventures team are to open a new site for its cocktail bar The Alchemist in Leeds – its first since a management buyout of the concept backed by private equity.
The Alchemist Bars and Restaurants – set up by Living Ventures through the buyout in May – is to open the venue in Greek Street in October. It follows the success of The Alchemist that opened in the Leeds Trinity complex in 2013.
It will be the fifth site for The Alchemist in the UK, with the original two in Manchester and one in London. Created by Living Ventures, it is being rolled out to more city-centre locations across the UK through a business set up through the £13m buyout funded by Palatine Private Equity.
The cocktail list at the new Greek Street bar will include those that have been a hit at the other sites such as the Smokey Old Fashioned and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
A full food menu will include Alchemist favourites such as the prawn lollipops, sticky beef salad and the special fried chicken in a basket.
Simon Potts, managing director of The Alchemist, said: “Greek Street holds special memories for many people in Leeds, including myself, but it’s an area that has been quiet for a number of years.
“We are excited to be bringing our brand of mixology to this quarter of the city centre, and in a location perfect for business meetings during the day and discerning drinkers during the evening.”
The area around Greek Street is undergoing redevelopment including new restaurants and a new luxury Dakota hotel with a bar.
