Bartenders from around the world came together for the first Balvenie Global Bartender Trip to celebrate the 25th year anniversary of The Balvenie DoubleWood whisky.
Organised by ACA Live, it aimed to fully immerse the bartenders into The Balvenie’s past, present and future including a tour of the distillery in Dufftown for a first-hand education into the craft that goes into the Speyside brand. David C Stewart, malt master for The Balvenie, talked to them about the history of whisky through his eyes and ran a Q&A session with the group.
The event, which is expected to be run each year, was hosted this year at the House of Glenmuick, a private sporting estate nestled in the Cairngorms National Park near Balmoral Castle. The park boasts gorgeous scenery and is home to the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis.
The inaugural group featured bartenders from the UK, including Paul McDonagh, owner of The Bon Accord whisky bar and shop in Glasgow, and Benoit Provost, bar manager of The American Bar at The Stafford hotel in west London.
Adam Goodman, managing director of ACA Live, said: “It’s great working with such an iconic brand that is steeped in history and dedicated to the craftmanship of excellence.”
