The Churchill Bar & Terrace is delighted to announce the appointment of Mitsuhiro Nakamura as Head Mixologist at the acclaimed establishment on Portman Square. In his new role at the award-winning Marylebone bar, Mitsuhiro will oversee the creative development of the bar’s innovative drinks lists, working alongside the Bar Manager to manage the laboratory, train mixologists, and uphold excellent standards whilst also pushing the boundaries of creativity through the drinks menu.
Mitsuhiro joins The Churchill Bar & Terrace from The Peninsula Tokyo, Japan, where he held the position of Head Bartender at Peter: The Bar. At the legendary cocktail bar popular amongst Japanese locals, Mitsuhiro was responsible for menu creation and development, training all local bar staff, and facilitating special events for the international hotel group in Paris and Bangkok. Showcasing five-star expertise and exemplary service, Mitsuhiro has represented the bar and conducted seminars in over ten countries.
Bringing a wealth of experience garnered throughout his ten-year career, Mitsuhiro has won numerous awards in the industry and travelled extensively to take part in global cocktail competitions in Mexico, Spain, the UK, and beyond. He holds the honourable Japanese Tea Ceremony teacher licence, an accomplishment he fuses into his cocktail creations through meticulous attention to detail, handling of ingredients, and continuously striving for perfection. Mitsuhiro brings new and diverse techniques, dedication, and understanding of the process of cocktail creation that will add a new dimension to The Churchill Bar & Terrace.
Mitsuhiro’s appointment completes The Churchill Bar & Terrace’s team, which saw the appointment of Gaston Fusco as Bar Manager in the autumn. Mitsuhiro’s global knowledge of the bar industry, combined with his award-winning skill, creativity, and passion, marks the start of an inspired new chapter to The Churchill Bar & Terrace, which will be marked by the launch of a new menu in Spring 2023. Echoing the different nationalities of the bar team, the new menu promises to take guests on a journey through different cultures through ingredients and sensations whilst honouring sustainability at its core. Already home to one of the most extensive cigar selections in the city, and the treasured tranquil terrace tucked away off Portman Square just moments from bustling Oxford Street, the Churchill Bar & Terrace’s new additions create an exciting next chapter for the much-loved bar.

Since attending a cocktail competition in this bar years ago, I have wanted to return.
