The Garden Cider Company has added a new Berry & Cherry flavour to its line-up of hand-crafted premium ciders made entirely from locally sourced, donated apples.
The new lightly sparkling variant, which presents a “bold blend” of raspberry and rich black cherries, is available in 500ml bottles, bag-in-box and 50 litre keg.
Founded by brothers Ben and Will Filby in 2010, The Garden Cider Company relies on garden fruit donations from over 4,000 households who bring their spare fruit in return for a free share of the cider.
Berry & Cherry is the latest addition to cider producer’s existing seven-strong range, which also includes Original, Dry Hopped, Elderflower, Plum & Ginger, Wild Strawberry, Raspberry & Rhubarb and Blueberry.
Will Filby, co-founder of The Garden Cider Company, said: “Berry & Cherry is a fantastic addition to our portfolio, complementing the seven other flavours in our range. The dark fruit and mixed berry category is so very well established that we wanted to create a premium cider to add to it.
“This is a well-balanced, lightly sparkling fruity cider that pairs perfectly with rich chocolate desserts. It is also a fabulous alternative to champagne, when served in a flute with one or two fresh raspberries.
“It was widely documented that the UK’s cherry industry almost collapsed 20 years ago, but this year has seen a bumper harvest with British growers producing around 6,500 tones of top-quality cherries, doubling their yields on last year. What a better way to celebrate this now thriving fruit market than to make a delicious cider!”
