A new menu that toasts the marriage between art and cocktails is launching this month at Ace Hotel London Shoreditch’s Lobby Bar.
Volume 2 of the ‘Notes From A Hotel Bar: A Compendium of Art and Spirits’ menu has been curated by Ace Hotel London’s bar manager Chris Green.
Separated into three sections, it includes a host of cocktails including classics such as A Magical Realist, an aromatic mix of Tapatio blanco, bergamot, honey, black peppercorns, rose and tarragon, and City Folk, blending Bombay Sapphire, almond, lemon, raspberries and soda.
A transatlantic take on the Espresso Martini comes in the shape of the Espresso Continental, made with Jack Daniel’s No 7, Grey Goose La Vanille, almond croissant and coffee.
Section two is devoted to optimism, with a selection of serves designed to give drinkers a “rosy retrospective”.
The Bourbon-bon-bon, for example, is a heady combination of Woodford Reserve bourbon, chocolate bourbon almond cream wash, soda and bon bon, while the colour-changing That Unicorn Drink blends Bombay Sapphire, butterfly pea flower, nettle, lemon and soda.
The third and final section is geared towards those following a no or low-alcohol lifestyle. Each drink has been designed to come in under 6% ABV.
Highlights include the Asian-inspired Near East/Far East, with Bombay Sapphire, Szechuan pepper, lemongrass, bergamot and tonic, as well as No Room/Much Room, mixing Bacardi Carta Blanca, shiitake, kefir, lemon, soda.
Alongside the new menu, the Lobby Bar will also present a selection of artworks by Ace Hotel London’s Artists in Residence, who have been invited to spend a night at the hotel and create new works inspired by the venue.
