New Cottons rum bar and restaurant to open in London

Cottons Rhum Shack Shoreditch

A third site is to open for Cottons Caribbean Restaurant and Rhum Shack in London, with a bar stocking over 300 varieties of rum.

After success in Camden and Shoreditch (pictured), it is set to open in April in Notting Hill Gate in the former premises of Indian restaurant Chakra which has relocated to Kensington.

The bar will stock what they say will be the largest rum collection in the UK, with over 300 varieties available. As in the other sites, the Rhum Shack will specialise in classic and innovative cocktails from the Reggae Rum Punch to a Killer Doppi and a Piña Colada.

The executive head chef will be Laurent Desiree, an esteemed chef of French Guadeloupe origin, who comes to Cottons from a “distinguished and colourful” past, including TV appearances on MasterChef in the UK and the Caribbean.

He will be joined by head chef Ross Sloane, who previously held 2AA Rosettes and a Michelin Bib Gourmand at Kota Restaurant in Porthleven, Cornwall. His dishes will be ingredient-driven, sustainably sourced and foraged where possible, using fresh, organic flowers such as chive flowers and coriander flowers.

Cottons Notting Hill is set to become the flagship for the group. Cottons in Exmouth Market closed in October 2014 and is now home to Urban Leisure Group’s bar Coin Laundry.
