The UK’s number one online retailer of artisan champagne is toasting the launch of three new producers, which are being released to the nation’s hospitality trade for the first time this summer.
Sip Champagnes, which recently won The Drinks Business ‘Specialist Online Retailer of the Year Award’ for 2022, is the UK’s leading online retailer dedicated to sourcing and supplying the best small-batch, handcrafted champagne straight to the hospitality trade and consumers from France’s iconic wine region.
With the UK’s largest collection of 50 Champagne producers and over 120 individual cuvées from across 25 villages in its range, Sip Champagnes only deals with ethically-sourced and artisan products direct from the farmer.
The latest three releases from Sip Champagnes are unavailable to buy anywhere else in the UK and it is the first time ever that these three new producers are being made available to the hospitality trade and consumers outside France.
First in the new line-up is new winemakers, Oudiette X Filles. This maison is run by two sisters and their mother. They are cousins of Maxime Oudiette, who Sip Champagnes also sell and whose first release, ‘Les Gras d’Huile’, received impressive reviews. They are based in Beaunay at the Petit Moran, a sub region of the Côte des Blancs that is gaining a good reputation. Sip Champagnes has their first and only release to date ‘Uni Terre’ – 100% Chardonnay.
Second on the list is Guenin, which are based in the southerly Aube or Côte des Bar village of Essoyes and have the sustainability credentials of HVE and VDC certification. Sip Champagnes is releasing two cuvées from Guenin, including Effloraison – 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay; and Enver de Val Desseaux – 100% Pinot Noir.
The final new producer in Sip Champagnes’ list of UK first releases this summer is William Saintot. This young producer from a family of winemakers is based in Avenay Val d’Or at the very East of the Marne Valley. Sip Champagnes is making a number of new cuvées available from William Saintot for the first time, including Blanc de Noirs – 100% Pinot Noir; Meunier de ma Grand Peres – 100% Meunier; and Tortelue – 100% Pinot Noir from a single vineyard and a tiny production of just 591 bottles each year.
Sip Champagnes’ co-founder, Daniel Blatchford, said: “We’re really excited to be releasing these excellent new grower champagnes to the UK hospitality trade for the first time this summer. It’s also the first time these producers are being made available outside France.
“Smaller, artisan producers like Oudiette X Filles, Guenin and William Saintot previously had no supply chain and no access to high-end restaurants, bars, hotels and wine boutiques, which meant consumers had little choice. We’re now helping to change all that by offering our trade customers a unique range of styles from across the champagne region that can be served by the bottle or glass.
“We’re already supplying our products to a select but ever-growing number of high-end restaurants, hotels and wine boutiques around the UK, including Medlar Restaurant, Chelsea; 67 Pall Mall and Hedonism Wines, Mayfair, and hope to grow our UK hospitality supply list even more in 2022.”
All Sip Champagnes packaging is made from recycled material and is 100% recyclable. They also invest in carbon offsetting programmes to reduce their environmental impact and they plant a tree for every order placed.
