A “flight” tray featuring each expression of Rémy Martin’s luxury Louis XIII range – Louis XIII, Louis XIII Black Pearl, Louis XIII Rare Cask 43.8 and Louis XIII Rare Cask 42.6 – is available for £2,013.
Guests who order the flight will be greeted and served by Giuliano Morandin, The Bar’s manager for over 30 years, and will also be invited to visit the House of Rémy Martin in Cognac.
Guests can taste all four Louis XIII expressions side by side – a rare opportunity as most of the Louis XIII Rare Cask and Black Pearl have now been sold.
According to the tasting notes for the Louis XIII Dorchester Experience, the Louis XIII Rare Cask 42.6 cognac has “notes of plum and date, mingling with flavours of gingerbread, prune stone and ginger, punctuated by a final touch of tobacco leaf”.
The King of Cognacs Louis XIII is “rich in aromas of myrrh, plum, honey and jasmine with a complex warm, harmonious and spicy palate culminating in an extremely long finish of one hour”.
Louis XIII Black Pearl, launched in 2007 as an “ultra-limited edition”, is produced from a century-old tierçon, one of the oldest casks from the Private Reserve of the family of Hériard Dubreuil, chief executive of Rémy Cointreau.
The Louis XIII Rare Cask 43.8 reveals “notes of wild mushroom and candied fruit. The balance between harmony and aromatic intensity touches on perfection.”
Created in 1874, Louis XIII is a blend of 1,200 eaux de vie from 40 to 100 years old, coming exclusively from the Grande Champagne region in Cognac.
Each handmade Louis XIII crystal decanter is created by at least 10 expert craftsmen and finished with 24-carat gold.
