Top bartender joins Emporia for Manchester event

Mal Spence EmporiaEmporia Brands has teamed up with Glasgow-based bartender Mal Spence (pictured) on a master class around his concept of re-thinking classic cocktails.

They are holding an event for bartenders in Manchester on Wednesday May 21 that will look at Emporia Brands’ range of fortified wines, aperitifs and vermouths.

It focuses on Mal’s “Inverso” concept of rethinking how drinks are made which he has developed at his bar Kelvingrove Café in Glasgow.

An Inverso drink is one that has a base of a vermouth, aperitif or other fortified wine, with the spirit used as the modifier instead to add backbone to the drink.

The master class at Under New Management, formerly Corridor, in Salford, will look at how this kind of serve can use products from Emporia Brands’ portfolio.

Its range includes Provençal vermouths from Distilleries et Domaines de Provence, Byrrh Grand Quinquina , Osborne Sherries, vermouths from Riserva Carlo Alberto and Distilleria Nardini amaro.

The master class starts at 2pm. To book a place, contact Dave Marsland at drinks_enthusiast@yahoo.co.uk.
