Top restaurants join pop-up to mark Mahou 125-year anniversary

Carlsberg UK is celebrating the 125th anniversary of Spain’s number-one beer, Mahou, with a special pop-up bar bringing Madrid to London this week.

La Plaza will be in Regent’s Place near Euston on July 30 and 31, featuring a bar alongside tapas-style street food designed to pair with the Spanish beer, which features five stars in its branding to reflect its quality.

The pop-up will feature many of the capital’s leading Spanish restaurants such as Iberica, Camino, Mas Q Menos and the Queen’s Head and Artichoke.

Entry to La Plaza will be free and will also include live Spanish music. Visitors will be invited to spin the Mahou Five Star Wheel to be in with a chance of winning prizes. Prizes will include Spanish cooking masterclasses, authentic food packages, and dinner and drinks at some of the restaurants involved in the activity.

David Scott, director of brands and insight at Carlsberg UK, said: ”This year, Mahou celebrates 125 years and La Plaza has been created to bring the brand’s rich history and quality credentials to life.

”The premium qualities of Mahou are an ideal match with the authentic flavours of Spanish tapas. What’s more, the Spanish style of dining with groups of friends and family, perfectly embodies the culture that surrounds the Mahou brand.”

Mahou La Plaza will open from midday to 8pm.
