American bartender Charles Joly (pictured), who won World Class Bartender of the Year, has worked with a leading London bartender to create cocktails with Cîroc vodka.
He has devised drinks for the special Spirit of Summer menu at Aqua Nueva restaurant and bar, part of Aqua London, in Regent Street with the venue’s bar manager, Luca Missaglia.
The drinks were first unveiled at Aqua’s restaurant and bar in Hong Kong and are now available in the London site until August 31.
Charles, who is a bar and drinks consultant after tending bar at The Aviary in Chicago, is working with Cîroc owner Diageo after becoming global winner of Diageo’s World Class competition a year ago.
Priced at £12 to £14, the Aqua Nueva cocktails include The Biarritz which is inspired by a classic Martini, combining Cîroc vodka with bianco vermouth and dry sherry, finished with a mist of camomile tincture and served in a coupette.
The Provençal is named after the region of France known for its lush rose gardens and bushels of ripe berries. It mixes Cîroc vodka with fresh raspberries, amaretto, rose and egg white, topped with an absinthe mist.
South Pacific is inspired by the 1950s film of the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical of the same name and is made with Cîroc Red Berry and Cîroc Coconut vodkas plus sour pineapple, Campari and a dash of fresh lime, served long over ice.
The 1930s glamour and glitz of South Beach in Miami has inspired the Ocean Drive, which contains Cîroc vodka and sweet Sauternes wine, balanced with aged champagne vinegar and white grapes and then carbonated with CO2 to give it an effervescent fizz.
The Garden of England is inspired by English herbs, melding a homemade thyme liqueur with Japanese yuzu and Cîroc vodka shaken and strained over iced.
The limited-edition cocktail list follows a refurbishment of Aqua Nueva, designed by Robert Angell Design International, which has included the creation of a new central bar next to a new-look dining area alongside an outside terrace.
Aqua London is also home to Aqua Kyoto which has its own terrace, designed by fashion designer Marios Schwab. Running until the end of September, the terrace bar is in partnership with Cîroc with its own special Cîroc cocktail list devised by Luca with Marios.
