Trader Vic’s gets ready for World Mai Tai Day

Trader Vic's London

Iconic Polynesian-inspired restaurant and bar Trader Vic’s London is inviting guests to celebrate World Mai Tai Day on 30 August.

The tropical drinking den, located at the London Hilton on Park Lane, will be hosting an exclusive party to mark 75 years of ‘Mai-Tai – Roa-Ae’.

As part of the celebration, Trader Vic’s London has partnered with Plantation Rum to create “the world’s most authentic” Mai Tai, courtesy of a limited edition Plantation Rum blend.

The Mai Tai is based on the 1944 original recipe as developed by founder Victor ‘The Trader’ Bergeron at the original Trader Vic’s in Oakland, USA, in 1944.

On the night, guests will be treated to a welcome Mai Tai on arrival and a luau buffet featuring Polynesian favourites such as suckling pig, tuna poke and pineapples galore. Those arriving at 7pm can take part in a one-hour beginners tiki mug ceramics class.

There will also be music from a Polynesian band, dancing and dance tutorials, tiki bazaar, Exotica & Rockabilly DJ and Plantation-hosted rum masterclasses.

Trader Vic’s London will be previewing its new cocktail menu with all drinks at a special price of £10. The “world’s most authentic” Mai Tai itself will be priced at £44.
