Tequila brand Batanga has launched its reposado and blanco variants in the UK through distributor Emporia Brands.
Established in 1926 by Don Eduardo Orendain, Batanga Tequila is traditionally distilled using 100% agave grown on one estate in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico.
The Orendain family is considered one of the four oldest tequila making families and one of the original founders (among Cuervo, Sauza and Herradura) of the tequila industry.
The company is now run by the second generation of the family, with the third generation now starting to have an active role.
Both expressions have an ABV of 38%. Batanga Tequila Blanco boasts “intense earthy agave notes of pepper, herbs and mint and a clean, vivid profile and long finish”, while the Reposado is aged from four to six months in ex-bourbon barrels, providing “subtle oak on the palate alongside a fresh and vibrant nose of grass and pepper”.
Batanga Tequila’s signature serve simply combines the spirit with cola and fresh lime juice in a tall glass with a salted rum.
