Australia’s Cape Byron Distilleries has debuted its premium Brookie’s Dry and Slow gin offerings in the UK.
Located within the Byron Bay region of New South Wales in Australia, Cape Byron is surrounded by a lush sub-tropical rainforest.
Sustainability, giving back to the community and regeneration are the core principles that underlie the ethos of the distillery and its products.
The flavour notes that underpin Brookie’s and make it a “uniquely ‘natural’ gin” are derived from ingredients and botanicals natively sourced from the harvest of the rainforest.
Of the 26 botanicals that go into the making of the Dry Gin, 18 are native to the Byron Bay region. These botanicals include byron sunrise finger limes, aniseed myrtle, cinnamon myrtle, macadamia, native river mint, native raspberry and several others.
The second variant in the range, Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin, draws its influence from the traditional English ‘sloe’ gin style, substituting sloe berries for a indigenous rainforest fruit, the Davidson Plum.
The Davidson Plums are macerated over six months, blended with Mount Warning Spring water and bottled at 26% ABV.
Brookie’s is distributed in the UK by SEA Spirits and available through Master of Malt, Hedonism and the Whisky Exchange
