Proximo Spirits is to introduce Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver into the UK for the first time – a spicy 100% agave blanco tequila.

Due to launch into the on-trade in early July, the premium tequila will also be available in Selfridges but not rolled out to further off-trade outlets until the end of the year.

Despite having only been previously available in Mexico and the US, Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver is already a favourite with bartenders around the world.

Bottled immediately after being distilled, it is an unrested version of Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado which was launched in the UK three years ago. The result is a fresh, spicy flavour with a hint of sweetness to finish.

Unlike Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado, Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver has more vegetal notes, with a background perfume of earthy cooked agave.

The Silver tequila is made following the same traditional family recipe and methods as established by the Cuervo family when the brand was founded in 1795.

Using only agaves from Tequila Valley and its surrounding areas in the lowlands of Jalisco, Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver is produced in the La Rojena distillery, the oldest working distillery in Latin America, located in the heart of the town of Tequila.

Gabriela Moncada, brand ambassador for Jose Cuervo, said: “Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver has always been one of my favourite products in the Jose Cuervo portfolio, and I’m so glad it’s finally coming to the UK.

“It’s also the perfect tequila to use in a fresh Margarita, with the sharp lime waking up its earthy flavours, and the salt rim offsetting the sweetness which comes at the end of every sip.”

Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver will initially be available in the following bars, restaurants and clubs from early July: Nobu, Rita’s, The Shop NW10, Catch, The Dorchester, Basement at London Edition, Playboy Club London and Werewolf.
