The rare expression uses a blend of fine white wines that are partly aged in oak vats and then macerated with an aromatic selection of botanicals such as cardamom from India, cinnamon from Sri Lanka and lavender from France.
Arriving in the UK this month, Noilly Prat Ambré is expected to be in great demand from cocktail bartenders who normally have to travel to France to source the product.
Only small quantities are produced every year and traditionally it can be found only at La Maison Noilly Prat in Marseillan in southern France plus a small number of specialist shops on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.
Noilly Prat international brand ambassador Ludovic Miazga said: “This year is a very proud milestone in the history of Noilly Prat which will recognise one of the finest French vermouths in the world.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring Noilly Prat Ambré to our dedicated fans in the UK.”
Ideal for classic-style cocktails, Noilly Prat Ambré is also promoted for serving over ice with a twist of grapefruit to balance the liquid’s herbal notes.
Noilly Prat Original Dry, distributed in the UK by Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands, is a must-stock vermouth for many cocktail bars. Based on a secret recipe dating back to 1813, it is created using around 20 herbs and spices from across the world and is aged using a unique outdoor process.
To support the release of Noilly Prat Ambré, the Noilly Prat team is promoting the classic-style Amber Martini Cocktail, combining 25ml of the vermouth with 25ml of Grey Goose vodka and 20ml of Bombay Sapphire gin, stirred with ice and strained into a coupette with a pink grapefruit twist as garnish.
