The UK Cognac Educators community has welcomed Joe Hall, general manager at Satan’s Whiskers, as the 13th official UK educator.
Created by the Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC), the network is dedicated to the promotion of cognac all over the world and has seen another eleven educators join the group for 2018.
Eleven spirits experts from around the world gathered in Cognac from 14-17 May to experience three full immersion days in the region. At the end of their stay, the candidates took a written and oral exam to demonstrate their knowledge of cognac.
As a global network, the Cognac Educators share their knowledge to educate and inspire their home markets, through masterclasses, trade events and other BNIC run activities.
Joe will join the other UK Educators, who include Phil Duffy, head of spirits at Amathus and Michele Brachet, author of ‘The World of Cognac’, to host educational sessions and to share his passion for the eau-de-vie with wine merchants, restaurateurs, bartenders, mixologists, as well as members of the public with an interest in the spirit.
Cognac educators are currently based in more than twenty countries: Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Spain, United States, France, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan or Ukraine.
The programme was initiated in 2010 by the BNIC, who can be contacted about free education sessions for groups in the wine and spirits industry.
