UKBG and UKSA Collaborate In A Trade Event Like No Other

London, UK – 12 June 2023 – The UK Bartenders’ Guild (UKBG) and UK Sommeliers’ Association (UKSA) have joined forces to present an extraordinary, free trade event that brings together the wine and spirits industry under one roof. It’s a place where people who buy, source, serve and write about wine and spirits can immerse themselves in new ideas, flavours and experiences together.

Where once, the UKSA held this event privately for their students’ annual graduation ceremony and sommelier competition. This year, they have invited the UKBG to participate. The UKBG grabbed the opportunity with both hands and has added a roster of masterclasses, a signature cocktail bar, spirit-led tastings and a flair demonstration bar for the delight and knowledge exchange of participants.

Both parties are inviting their trade contacts for the highly anticipated event, set to take place on Monday, 12th of June, at the prestigious Merchant Taylors Hall in London. From 11 am until 8.30 pm, industry professionals and enthusiasts alike can immerse themselves in a day full of unique experiences.

Masterclasses led by renowned speakers, including Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell and World Flair Champion Sikky Chmel, promise to captivate and educate attendees. Brands like Equiano Rum, Bosque Gin, Heavensake, and many more* will offer tastings and signature cocktails, ensuring a diverse range of flavours and sensations.

The event’s schedule boasts an impressive lineup featuring;

  • a day-long walk-around tasting hosted by esteemed brands from the wine and spirits trades, including guests of the UKBG – 5-Hats, Fabbri 1905, Limoncello Di Capri, Kofee, Tassoni, Giusti, Equiano Rum, Bosque Gin and Heavensake;
  • insights shared by experts from Bar Magazine and The Drinks Trust, who will be on hand to offer their invaluable services and skills;
  • an operational cocktail bar that will serve signature cocktails prepared by the participating UKBG brands;
  • a captivating flair demonstration from the World Flair Association Ambassador Sikky Chmel;
  • and three masterclasses from premium spirit brands, including Ian Burrell discussing Equiano Rum, Gerardo Bres who works with Bosque Gin, and WSET educator Natsuki Kikuya talking to us about Heavensake

Before the award ceremony honouring the recent graduates of the Certified Sommelier Courses and Best UK Sommelier – Villa Sandi Award competition.

“This collaboration between the UKBG and UKSA sets the stage for unparalleled opportunities and diversity within the industry,” says UKBG President Claudia Carrozzi. “We are thrilled to have industry experts, such as Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell and World Flair Champion Sikky Chmel, share their knowledge and passion with such a diverse range of interested attendees.”

This event serves as a unique networking opportunity for trade professionals, providing a platform for learning, sharing experiences, and fostering connections within the wine and spirits community. It is the most important annual social gathering for the industry, allowing attendees to come together and elevate their craft collectively.
