Iconic US bar brand Coyote Ugly Saloon is seeking partners to open more sites in the UK as it prepares to launch its first in Cardiff.

The brand’s international franchise programme will be presented at The Franchise Show at London ExCel from February 18 to 20, aiming to open in sites of 2,000 to 6,000 square feet in large towns and cities.

The first Coyote Ugly Saloon is due to open in St Mary Street in Cardiff in March in partnership with Steve Lewis who owns and operates two other bars, Jack Murphy’s and The Adelphi, in Swansea.

“We couldn’t be more excited about exporting our version of honky tonk to the United Kingdom and could not have found a better team with whom to partner as we enter the market,” said Coyote Ugly founder Liliana “Lil” Lovell.

“Already widely recognised as the most famous bar in the world, we expect a strong and positive reception in the UK.”

Founded in 1993 in New York City, Coyote Ugly is known for its loud music, party atmosphere and female bartenders who do dance routines on top of the bar. It gained worldwide fame after a 2000 film of the same name.

Justin Livingston, vice president of global development for Coyote Ugly, said: “For the first time in the UK, we have Coyote Ugly in all its glory exhibiting at the expo. Our stand has a bar, the music and the dancing bartenders that we are so well known for. We’re looking forward to drawing an audience and speaking to show visitors about our fantastic franchise opportunity.”

The business has already grown to over 20 Coyote Ugly Saloons worldwide, boosted by the movie and three seasons of a reality show on MTV’s Country Music Television.
