VEGAN WINES FOR JANUARY 2022 – INTRODUCING DELLA VITE PROSECCO

Meaning ‘of the vine’, Della Vite is a range of vegan and sustainably made Proseccos, created by Chloe, Poppy and Cara Delevingne. The first joint venture between the sisters, Della Vite was made in collaboration with a third-generation wine-making family in the heart of the Valdobbiadene Valley in north-eastern Italy.

Della Vite combines the latest technology with traditional Italian wine craft to develop wines of elevated quality, rooted in sustainable methods. Alongside the avoidance of farming machinery and overseas ingredients, the Della Vite winery operates on solar powered energy. The liquid is also filtered through a ceramic system, never using draining agents containing animal products, meaning the wines are 100% vegan. Finally, an extended second fermentation of 60 days is used to achieve a subtle autolytic character. This process results in a dryer Prosecco, with creamy bubbles classified as EXTRA DRY.

Skilfully crafted, the wines aim to challenge consumer perceptions of the category, which is not always known for quality. The range includes the Della Vite Superiore Prosecco DOCG with hints of crostini and chamomile, which is made exclusively from hand-picked Glera grapes, and the clean, bright Della Vite Treviso Prosecco DOC, with notes of gooseberry and date, perfect for mixing in cocktails due to its delicate flavour profile.

Della Vite launched in August 2020, and since then has secured a growing list of top bar and restaurant stockists, including The Fat Duck, The London EDITION and Mandarin Oriental.
