Jude Law has returned to star in a second instalment of The Gentleman’s Wager – a short film created for Johnnie Walker Blue Label whisky. He stars with Giancarlo Giannini and acclaimed Chinese actress Zhao Wei in a story about two men making a bet over a classic racing car.
The Gentleman’s Wager II was directed by British director Jake Scott of Ridley Scott Associates, who also shot the first film. It features cameos from Formula 1 stars Mika Häkkinen and McLaren Honda F1 driver Jenson Button.
Jude said: “The Gentleman’s Wager II evocatively captures how the act of giving and expressing gratitude can deliver great joy. I’m a big believer in joy fuelling progress and it’s been wonderful working on this second film for Gentleman’s Wager in collaboration with the Johnnie Walker Blue Label brand.”
The film follows the launch of a new Keep Walking campaign, under the title of “Joy Will Take You Further”, in September. It challenges the idea that hard grind is the only way to succeed, instead showing that joy fuels progress and that gratitude is the highest expression of joy.
Nick Temperley, head of Diageo Reserve Brands GB, said: “Diageo is committed to the growth of luxury scotch, both in the UK market and globally. This film signals Diageo’s confidence in the category and continued investment behind the Johnnie Walker brand to drive the next decade of growth for the world’s best-selling blended Scotch whisky.”
