VIDEO: Tom Walker makes his winning Maid in Cuba

In this new video from Bacardi, Tom Walker – formerly of the American Bar at The Savoy in London – presents his Maid in Cuba cocktail that helped him win the global Bacardi Legacy competition this year.

The drink has been included in the next edition of the Savoy Cocktail book and is also included in Dave Broom’s book “The Complete Bartender’s Guide”.

Tom has now left The American Bar to work at Attaboy in New York City.

Maid in Cuba by Tom Walker

60ml Bacardi Superior
45ml Sweet and sour mix
6 Mint leaves
3 Slices of cucumber
Absinthe spritz
50ml soda

To make the sweet and sour mix, combine one part sugar syrup to two parts lime juice for half a day. To make the cocktail, muddle the cucumber into a boston shaker, add the mint and the rest of the ingredients except the absinthe and soda. Add cubed ice to the shaker, shake hard, double-strain into an absinthe-spritzed coupette and top with the soda. Garnish with cucumber and mint sprig.
