View guides to let bars manage listings and reviews

A new system has been added for View city guides to allow bars and clubs to manage their own listings, including user reviews.

Running across all 21 city guides including ViewLondon, the new View Portal lets venues update information and upload special offers, images and videos, all for free.

For the first time, owners of bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants can also manage user reviews to make sure they provide a balanced picture, allowing them to respond to reviews immediately.

View Portal also allows venues to report reviews they feel are unfair, causing them to be immediately suspended from the site until the query has been investigated and resolved.

Marketing manager Diederik Smet said: “The first step for venues, when it comes to online marketing, is to ensure that their presence on sites such as View fully reflects their venue and appeals to their target audience. And this does not need to cost a penny.

“There are a only a few things venues need to do: make sure their information is correct and up to date, then one of the most important things they can do is upload images that will entice users to visit their venue. Too many venues miss out on attracting more custom because their listing does not contain any images.

“On the subject of contentious user reviews, we now live in a social media-oriented society, where everyone wants to share their opinions online, so venues need to understand that user reviews are here to stay.

“We are well aware of how they can impact on a venue’s reputation, but with the right approach user reviews can be used to a venue’s advantage, giving them the chance to demonstrate fantastic customer service.”

View Portal also contains a support centre where venues can request window stickers and badges for their website, alongside plenty of useful information providing lots of marketing tips such as how to write an enticing description of their food, drinks and décor, as well as how to manage user reviews.

View Portal launches on June 18 and venues can claim their listing on View either by visiting their View listing and clicking on the “claim listing” button, or by heading to View Portal directly at: www.portal.view.co.uk.

View city guides now cover Bath, Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bradford, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Nottingham, Oxford and Sheffield.
