Wax Jambu team to return with pop-up

wax jambu IslingtonThe team behind the former Wax Jambu bar in Islington, north London, are to return in March with a pop-up bar.

Wax’s Hogo Shake-Up will run from March 1 until May 1 on the first floor of the William IV pub in Shepherdess Walk near Old Street while the owners secure a new permanent site.

Wax Jambu (pictured) in Upper Street closed at the start of February after more than four years as a leading cocktail bar specialising in rum. The new pop-up will also be strong on bourbon and other whiskies.

Wax Jambu owner Jimi Pearce said the new pop-up would offer a “contemporary, premium drinking experience with all the Wax Jambu ethos you enjoyed in the beginning”.

He added: “The Hogo Shake Up is just the first unique stepping stone of experiences for all to enjoy en route to our new venue.”

The pop-up bar will host a series of weekly events including cocktail competitions, tastings and samplings, from premium whiskey and rum to “sausages with a splash of vermouth”.

The old Wax Jambu site has been acquired by the Be At One Group and is due to reopen as a Be At One in mid to late March.
