West Mercia Police announce that SmartTag is being deployed by Security Industry Association (SIA)

West Mercia Police has announced that SmartTag is being deployed by Security Industry Association (SIA) accredited security officers in Hereford to deter night-time disorder: https://www.westmercia.police.uk/news/west-mercia/news/2021/november/launch-of-new-equipment-to-help-identify-offenders/

SmartTag, a special, traceable forensic spray developed by SmartWater Group, will see those who threaten or attack others, sprayed with the forensic spray by security staff from a distance.

Used in the same way as an aerosol, the responding door security officer pulls the safety pin, aims and sprays the individual with a unique forensic liquid which links them to the scene long after the incident has taken place.

This deployment comes at a critical time, as nightlife venues across the UK face a growing shortage of door staff. Existing security staff need the right equipment to defuse difficult situations and discourage violent attacks.

Gary Higgins, COO from SmartWater Group said: “The power of the SmartWater Group brand makes SmartTag a simple, effective and reliable method of taming aggressive behaviour. We believe that SmartTag will be a standard piece of equipment for all professional SIA accredited security officers.”
