The winning “cocktail magician” has been announced in a competition for Ypióca cachaça that challenged bartenders to create a drink incorporating “magic”.
Morten Kjaerulff (pictured below) from Adventure Bar in Clapham High Street in south London took the top prize with a cocktail called Brazil in a Hat that mixed the Brazilian spirit with apricot brandy and mint leaves.
He beat seven other bartenders (pictured top) who had reached the UK final – held at Made in Brasil bar in Camden in north London – after four regional heats.
The finalists incorporated levitating bottles, playing cards appearing in unopened oranges and spirits changing colour with a click of the fingers as part of their magical presentations.
They created their drinks in front of a panel of judges that included Magic Circle magician Nil Magico.
As well as being named Ypióca Cocktail Magician 2015, Morten won the top prize of a MacBook Air.
James Bowker from The Edgbaston hotel in Birmingham came a close second, earning him tickets to see renowned magician Dynamo on his UK tour.

15ml Apricot brandy
1 dash Angostura Bitters
