Winners announced in Scottish Bartenders Network awards

Bars and bartenders from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh triumphed in the 2015 Scottish Bartenders Network awards last night.

Winners in Edinburgh included The Lucky Liquor Co which was named Scotland’s best cocktail bar and Hoot the Redeemer which won the award for best new bar.

In Glasgow, Blythswood Square Hotel (pictured) gained the title of best hotel bar and The Tippling House in Aberdeen won the award for best cocktail menu.

Michael Cameron of Guy’s Restaurant in Glasgow was named bartender of the year, boosted by achievements such as winning the 2015 Glenfiddich Malt Mastermind competition.

From Aberdeen, Martin Farmer of Orchid was named bar manager of the year and Ciarán Russell of The Tippling House won the award for young bartender of the year.

Other awards included recognition of the best whisky advocate which went to Steven Cooney from Tigerlily bar in Edinburgh and the title of beer champion for Jehad Hatu from craft beer shop Grunting Growler in Glasgow.

The Legend Award, recognising the achievements of an industry legend, went to Frank Murphy of The Pot Still in Glasgow which has become a destination for whisky lovers.
