ALMR operations managers awards

Menesh Modhwadia, who is an area manager for Revolution bars at The New Inventive Pub Company, has been named one of the winners of the annual ALMR Operations Managers Awards.

Menesh picked up the award for area manager of the year alongside Darren King of tenanted and leased pub company Greene King Pub Partners who was named business development manager of the year.

The two winners impressed judges with their enthusiasm and passion for the licensed retail sector coupled with their wealth of experience and depth of knowledge.

The Rising Star award was made to Matthew Dyson, a business development manager at leased pub business Star Pubs & Bars, in recognition of the qualities he displayed throughout the awards process and the potential he showed for future development.

The awards were presented yesterday at the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers Christmas lunch by the ALMR’s chief executive Kate Nicholls. They were announced in front of an audience of over 1,100 ALMR members, their guests and senior industry executives in Old Billingsgate Market, London.

Nick Bish, founder of the awards, said: “The Operations Managers Awards are not simply a competition – they provide real personal development for the individuals and a boost for the industry as a whole.

“The finalists have undergone a rigorous judging process, a challenging entry paper, psychometric profiling, field assessment on a routine working day and lastly the tough questioning from three panels of industry leaders.”

The intensive three-day Ops MasterClass, led by Chris Nichols of Ashridge Consulting, was held in November at the Alveston Manor in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Nick continued: “The Operations Managers Awards confirm the importance of ops managers in general and shine a light on the best of the best amongst them.

“I am delighted to report that each and every year the bar gets higher and the standard of entries match and exceeds our expectations. 2014 was one of the tightest marking yet, suggesting that the leadership of our pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants is in good hands.

“And today, Menesh and Darren are the brilliant winners of these prestigious awards. They have shown outstanding management abilities and exceptional standards of professionalism throughout and I am certain they both are destined for senior roles within the industry.”
