Winning bars announced in Manchester’s first Drinkies awards

Alchemist Spinningfields Manchester

The best bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels in Manchester have been announced in the city’s first Eat Drink Sleep Awards.

The Alchemist in Spinningfields (pictured), the Northern Quarter’s Black Dog Ballroom, Epernay, Bierkeller, The Whiskey Jar, Cuckoo, Mr Cooper’s House & Garden, Almost Famous, Chaophraya and Manchester House were among the winners.

A special entrepreneurs’ award was given to Tim Bacon and Jeremy Roberts, the co-founders of Living Ventures which operates bars and restaurants across Manchester and the north including The Alchemist and Manchester House.

The awards, nicknamed the Drinkies, were voted on by members of the public, with more than 63,000 votes received across 34 different categories, divided up into central, south and north Manchester. See below for a full list of winners.

Other winners at the event, held at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel on Monday, included The Old Sessions House (pictured below) in Knutsford, Cheshire, part of the New Moon Company, which won best premium casual dining in south Manchester.

New Moon Company co-founder Paul Newman said: “We love awards like this. They are a true reflection of what our customers think of us, as the shortlisted venues are voted for by the general public. We are chuffed to bits.”

Paul and co-founder David Mooney were also shortlisted as best entrepreneurs alongside Carlo and Marcello Distefano from the San Carlo Group.
