WKD starts the weekend with shutter-shades and cocktails

Promotional “shutter-shades” for ready-to-drink brand WKD are making a comeback this autumn as part of activity in the on-trade to declare “The WeeKenD Starts Here”.

Bars, pubs and clubs will be giving away thousands of pairs of the eye-catching flashing spectacles with bottle purchases in the promotional bursts to mark the start of the weekend.

WKD brand owner SHS Drinks will be supporting participating outlets with witty promotional point-of-sale materials and a range of cocktail jug recipes under the banner of “Made for sharing”.

The cocktail recipes, using complementing spirits and soft drink mixers over ice, include WKD Schnapperday Night Fever, made with WKD Red, peach schnapps and apple juice, and WKD Iron Brewtiful, combining WKD Iron Brew with spiced rum and lemonade. The WKD Slushy Peas is a mix of WKD Green, raspberry liqueur and lemonade.

To help staff, a guide explains how to make each of the drinks, instructing that each jug should be served with four glasses and highlighting that each serving contains about one unit of alcohol.

Debs Carter, marketing director, alcohol at SHS Drinks, said: “Our shutter-shades will generate some extra fun in outlets and our sharing cocktails are sure to go down well among groups of friends over the coming months.”
