Specialist chicken restaurant and bar chain Yard & Coop is bolstering its portfolio with a new site in Leeds.
Residing opposite Zaap Thai in the site formerly occupied by Miah’s Kitchen on Merrion Street, the 120-cover venue will boast a “cool” vibe, with a playlist of quirky, non-commercial tunes.
As with Yard & Coop’s other restaurants in Liverpool and Manchester, the Leeds site will source all chicken sustainably from a farm in Shropshire.
Menu highlights include the Coop Kebab, which serves up buttermilk thighs on a naan bread with salad, minty buttermilk and kebab sauce. Customers can also “build their own feast” by pairing a cut of meat with homemade sauces, fries and toppings.
A selection of craft beers will also be available, from Yard Pilsner, Paulaner Munich Helles Lager and Flip the Bird IPA on draught through to bottled brands such as Beaver Town, Delirium Tremens and Lindeman’s Kriek Cherry Beer.
The cocktail menu, which includes a dedicated gin selection, offers 19 serves. What’s Golden, a blend of Wray and Nephew, Mount Gay and Sailor Jerry with lime, pineapple, orange and passionfruit, sits alongside the Bacon Bour-Bon Jovi, a ‘porky twist’ on the classic Old Fashioned.
Non-drinkers can indulge in Yard & Coop’s house pop and freshly made Luxury Shakes, which include Popcorn, Nutella, Oreo and Bounty flavours.
Co-founder and director Carl Morris said: “Leeds is an amazing city and were extremely excited to bring the Home of Buttermilk Fried Chicken to the people of Yorkshire. We’re all about booze, chicken, good times and we can’t wait to meet everyone.’’
Yard & Coop Leeds is expected to open at the end of February 2019.
