Legendary New York bar and restaurant Dante, which dates back over 100 years, is coming to London for a week-long takeover of Madison’s Rooftop Bar.
From Friday September 29 to Wednesday October 4, it will be offering selections from its cocktail list under the banner of the Aperitivo Hour from 4pm to 9pm daily. There will also be live music on Friday, Saturday and Wednesday.
Drinks will include Dante’s popular Sour-style drink, the Garibaldi (pictured below), made with Martini Bitter, Aperol, Strega, Italicus di Bergamotto, grapefruit, lilac and egg white.
Cocktails from the New York bar’s Negroni Sessions will include the Chocolate Negroni (pictured top) with Fords Gin, Campari, Punt e Mes, crème de cacao, chocolate bitters and Valrhona chocolate.
Joining the line-up will be Rooftop Life – one of two unique serves inspired by Madison’s rooftop scene, created by the Dante team especially for the pop-up – which is made with Bombay Sapphire gin, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, white Italian vermouth, lime, prosecco and “green stuff”.

Dante was founded as an Italian café in Greenwich Village in 1915, becoming a hang-out for artists, writers, musicians and bohemians over the following decades. Under Naren Young and Linden Pride, it has become a restaurant and bar that is a world-class destination for cocktails. It is currently number 34 in the World’s 50 Best Bars ranking.
